The Isla Fuerte Reef Check is your opportunity to evaluate the health of Colombia´s southernmost insular coral reefs, experience first-hand in hand the strong relationship an island community has with coral reefs, and be surprised of how nature tries to resist to our fight for survival. One last point: you get to dive the famous but least studied Bajo Bushnell!
Come and monitor the health of Colombia´s largest and healthiest coral reef. Also, you had the opportunity and privilege to witness sharks and turtles, an indicator that Providence’s coral reefs are still healthy.
This is our largest participatory coral reef monitoring expedition, an intense educational experience in citizen science to support the actions taken by the locals to protect and restore coral reefs. The warm, calm and colorful waters of San Andrés are the right environment to become a citizen scientist. If you are already a Reef Check EcoDiver, the San Andrés Reef Check is your opportunity to put into practice your knowledge and skills for monitoring coral health.
Our very first and largest Reef Check expedition so far, and first coral reefs surveyed by our Reef Check EcoDivers. It is still an intense educational experience in citizen science to increase the number of qualified people to collect information on the condition of Colombia´s coral reefs. The diversity of habitats in the Santa Marta, Taganga and the Tayrona National Park areas is a great opportunity to become a coral reef citizen scientist.
